Happy Holidays...

Times Read: 640

Still sick - I actually spent Xmas in bed. (And I'm a person who rarely stays in bed all day - even when ill). Getting better though!

I got an awesome monetary gift from my mom...I should be getting my new computer in a few days! (With money left over too)!

But what makes me feel good is the fact that my mom wil lbe coming back up here, to stay with my sis Ray and her family until she decides to visit Texas and maybe stay for good with my aunt. Mom misses the Bay Area, her friends, and her Rudy. We all miss having holidays together, so it will be nice to resume those celebrations (Where my mom is now - with my sis Poo - she doesn't get to do those things, as Poo doesn't celebrate holidays...she's a Jehovah's Witness).

So, we're all making arrangements for this to happen.

I am hoping that next year will be better than this one...'cause this year was mostly fucked for me...lol (to keep from crying)

I haven't been here in a week or so, so I'm trying to play catch-up. It is taking forever to look at profiles and try to rate them. I can't wait until I get a new desktop!

What other condiments do you play with?

Friday...the 13th!

"Monique...would you like another glass of wine?" That's what I'd like to hear in my life...not "Ma'am - were you the Code Blue from this morning?"

I've been fighting a cold/flu for over two months. Right when I think that it's almost over, I have a relapse - so, no flu shot. I've been working when I really shouldn't have, but hey - I keep my germs to myself, and I need the money. As a matter-of-fact, I've been such a great employee that the bosses decided to give me extra pay for a day - 8 hours! Of course, I'm not to tell the other cashiers this...

Anyway, my body couldn't take anymore, and I ended up calling in sick this past Thursday. By Friday, I felt as if I could work. Before I went to work, I stopped by the hospital/clinic to pick up one of my meds. The bosses knew that I was going to make a stop before arriving at work, so it was all good.

While waiting in the prescription pick-up line, I suddenly felt dizzy. I had to get out of my good place in line to sit down. I sat for about 15 minutes, then noticed that the line was getting longer...so I got back in line. I had a wall to lean on, and figured that I could just lean my head back and close my eyes for a moment...the next thing I know, I'm lying flat on my back, surrounded by people. Note that I've never passed out in my life...dizzy spells twice, but no fainting. I have no idea how long I was out, but I remember saying out loud "What the fuck?" I thought about how I was lying on a hospital floor - the grossness of it - and I tried to get up. Medical personnel were gently pushing me back down on that floor, and a nurse asked me if I knew my name. I said "Monique"; then she asked me my birthdate, and I responded with "2-1-61." I heard a bystander say that my head hit the floor pretty hard...thank God that I have a rock head, as I felt no pain, and nothing was found via all of the tests that they gave me!

A stretcher was brought, I was put on it, then wheeled to the ER...oh joy.

I can't say how many times nurses and others in the hospital said things like "Say - you were that Code Blue from this morning, huh?" "I thought you looked familiar; you were passed out on the floor" "Were you the Code Blue?" YES!!! Now, shut up already!

...My blood sugar was tested - it was only slighter higher than the norm; an EKG was done (I'll know the results when I see my primary care doctor this Friday); various blood tests were done, and they got a urine sample. Out of all of that, it was noted that I was slightly dehydrated...no doubt due to the flu.

After all of that, I felt fine, ie no dizziness - so I went back to the pharmacy to pick up my meds - including a cough syrup that was ordered for me.

I got home a little after 7pm.

Good grief.

First, I want to thank those who left kind messages in regards to Ravyn...I sure do miss that lil' cat. I didn't mind the extra work she made me do, as she was worth every minute...

I guess I could give an update in regards to work, as it appears that I only have time to log on here once a week.

On the work front:

* Big Momma...still lazy and full of shit.

* There is this one old black guy who pops up on occasion, and he is always dressed in Afro-centric garb. While I think his style is kinda' cool, his attitude is not. He is usually looking for a fight with any white person he comes into contact with. As soon as I saw him come in, I rushed to tell the two white student workers that were on duty at the grill to go in the back and hide for a few minutes. Of course I was too late, as one of the students asked the old guy if he needed any help...the old guy replied with "Did I asked your honkey ass for any help?"

The poor kid's face turned bright red. I tried to diffuse the situation by asking the mean old bastard if he was 'cool'. He snapped at me, mumbled something, then stormed out. Racist old bastard.

* As I've been wearing bangs again, I get compliments -especially from the Chinese students - "Your hairstyle is Chinese. Cool" lol

* One older student - a hippie - got all bent out of shape when he was told that cups weren't free, when he grabbed over a dozen from the coffee station. "What do you mean? My teacher told me to get some cups!" A chorus of us - students and cashiers - told him that he had to pay 25 cents a cup. The hippie kept stating that his teacher told him to get cups. I finally had it with his whining, and told him that his teacher didn't run the cafeteria, and was misinformed about the cups being for free. As he was about to throw the cups back, a student took them from him, and gave them to me (I threw them in the trash and wasted them via the register). The hippie gets really pissed, and shouts out "You're all a bunch of goddamn Nazis!"

I replied with "If we were, we would've shot you by now!"

He stormed out, followed by more laughter, after I shouted "Auf Wiedersehen!" Idiot. If he was nice about the whole deal, I would've just let him have the damn cups.

* Ah...Jay. The slow-witted annoying dishwasher. While in the office counting money with the supervisor and Mai, he interrupts to say something. Seeing that we were counting, you'd think that he'd wait patiently until we were done...Jay starts reciting the ABC's, of all things.

When we didn't respond, he began reciting the ABC's again...when he started for the third time, the boss just said "Jay. As you can see, we are busy. By you standing there reciting the ABC's, you are making the process longer for us AND for you...plus, it's rude. You're going on a break, right? Go on then"...Good grief. XYZ.

Ravyn...

...is not doing well. I noticed her walking around in distress last night before I placed her in the kennel, and she was yowling early this morning.

It looked as if she kept trying to poop, but couldn't. Assuming that she was constipated, I tried feeding her pumpkin, and water with Metamucil added to it. She won't eat or drink anything. She seemed to be in pain too, so I gave her 0.2 ml. of prednisolone. Now, while she doesn't appear to be in pain, she is very lethargic and cool to the touch. I wrapped her up in a towel, a small blanket, and a heated pad. I don't have any money now, so I will call the local ASPCA tomorrow for help - they do help people for free or for very low fees if they can't afford to pay the regular fees (which are actually pretty reasonable).

I feel horrible, as this lil' cat went through so much, and came through with flying colors. She is normally very feisty and loud, so to see her like this hurts a lot. I don't want her to suffer and/or die due to constipation.

This sucks.

Doing the right thing. WTF? Part 2.

After I got in from my long night of trying to identify lil' criminal bastards, I discovered that I couldn't find my cellphone...holy shit. I quickly figured out that it must have slipped out of my purse when I was struggling to get out of that patrol car...good grief.

As soon as I got to work the following morning, I called the police department, got the police report number, and got connected to their lost and found. Every person I talked to assumed that since I was in the back of a patrol car, I was arrested...lol. After explaining several times that I was a witness to a crime, they were more accomodating.

As the officer I dealt with was off duty, they had to radio out to whomever was using the car, and leave him/her a message to check the car for a Samsung cellphone. I kept getting grilled about the phone, and I stressed on how the screen pic would be of a cat - a black & white one (I change my screen pic weekly, using a pic of one of my cats).

In short, I was without a phone for 2 days...I finally got it back on Halloween night.

That night, I was told that the officer who found my phone was on duty that night, and would drop my phone off around 9 pm...I had to wait on the stoop...how fun...watching the crackheads get fucked up for Halloween (My apartment building is gated). And the officer showed up around 10 pm...late, late, late! He apologized, but it was easy to forgive him, as he was absolutely gorgeous...lol. (Around 6'4", muscular, with black hair and blue-green eyes)...

So...all went well, right?

Not exactly. I got a subpoena in the mail about two weeks later, and it showed 5 defendants - all minors. I'm to testify in court...yipee. What freaked me out - and pissed me off - was when I got calls from two different attorneys for two of the defendants, fishing for info. I told them both that whatever I had to say would be said in court, and not to call me again. Then I called the assistant DA to let him know that I was not happy with the way things worked...fortunately, before the court date, all of the defendants plead guilty, so no testifying from me.

Right when I think that it's over, I get a call from a parole officer for one of the defendants...she wanted me to know that while everything should be fine, I should know that a parent of one of the defendants alerted them to the fact that a list of the witnesses' names and phone numbers mistakenly got out. WHAT THE FUCK???

Like I need a relative or friend of these badassed kids to come after me? So much for trying to do the right thing. I called the DA again, and politely chewed him a new asshole...like, who dropped the ball on this? He said that he'd get to the bottom of it, and for me to call him if I got any calls or strange people watching and/or following me. THERE ARE STRANGE MOTHAFUCKAS ALL OVER THIS CITY.

Sigh.

Doing the right thing...I think. Part 1.

About me being in the back of a patrol car...no, I was not arrested- even though I now see how hard it is to get out of one from the back seat. There isn't much room, and the cop had to help me and my bags out...lol.

Anyway...

A few days before Halloween, I was riding the bus on my way home from work. There were some noisy, obnoxious boys in the back, which was normal- you know how loud kids get sometimes. No biggie.

When I got off at my stop, so did the kids - there were about 6 or 7 of them - all black. A few other passengers got off, including a small Asian kid. I was crossing the street to the corner market near my apartment for milk. Got the

milk and proceeded to go home. On the corner, about half a block up the street- almost directly across the street from my apartment building, I saw those same obnoxious kids suddenly gang up on the Asian kid. They were punching and kicking the shit outta' him, and he was crying for help.

Of course, I took out my phone and dialed 911 from where I was standing (partially hidden from view). I was connected to the police department, after a long wait and a

transfer...good grief. I explained to dispatch what was going on, and was told that patrol cars happened to be in the area already, and would be there immediately.

In the meantime, the gang ran off, laughing the whole time, which really pissed me off. I went up to the Asian kid, to check on him while waiting for the police. He was pretty shaken up, of course, and had some injuries- his

mouth was bleeding, he had scratches on his face and neck, and his glasses were bent. With his limited English, he said that he was okay, but his iPhone was taken. He kept thanking me for helping him...

Three patrol cars show up,and they spoke to me and a few other witnesses: a Mexican family who was waiting for a bus, three other teens - one black and two Latino, and me. They took everyone's statements, but I was the only one to stick around if/when the lil' bastards got caught...they did, about 30 minutes later, as they were stupid enough to stick together instead of breaking up.

Fortunately, a cop who spoke Chinese was sent, and they were finally able to communicate with the victim.

According to the cop who took my statement, the kid said that he could identify some of his attackers. He asked me if I'd be willing to identify them as well, and after some thought - like "No - don't get more involved!" - I said

"Yes...okay." I would have felt guilty if I didn't help this kid...if he was mine, I'd like to think that someone would come to his aid, ya' know?

So, by the time I squeezed into the back of the patrol car, it was dark. I was assured that no one would be able to see me in the back seat, and the suspects would be in bright light, so they wouldn't be able to see much of anything.

Out of the 6 kids they brought out, I was only able to positively identify two of them, as they stood out more: one had very light-skin with green eyes, and the other was a huge dark-skinned 'Baby Huey' with white sneakers.

The cop later told me that one of the ones I couldn't identify had the Chinese kid's iPhone...

After completing paperwork, the cop took me home - I had him drop me off around the corner and he turned his lights off, as I didn't want anyone seeing me emerge from a cop car.

An Old Geezer Behind the Wheel.

00:27 Dec 02 2013
Times Read: 754

While there are competent elderly drivers out and about, there are more bad ones, who don't want to face the fact that they can't see, hear, or react to situations as quickly as they use to.

This is a true story from over a month ago, as told to me by my sis Ray:

Her daughter was with a group of others taking a break from their job training at a Lush store in San Francisco. They had the light, were in the crosswalk, when suddenly an old lady plowed into them; well, actually, the only one to get hit was my niece. She ended up a few feet away, missing a shoe. She was helped up to a sitting position by her co-workers while waiting for the paramedics. The old woman who hit her refused to get out of her car to check on my niece, even though bystanders were coming forward to be of some assistance.

When the paramedics and the police showed up, the old bat still remained in her car, actually giving off an attitude as she was in a rush to get somewhere.

My niece said that she was okay after the medics checked her out, and the police got their statements. (I found out later that my sis had my niece checked out by a doctor, and will have the old lady pay for whatever tests/treatments my niece may need, as she has had some pain issues now; I also figured out that the old bat is from a prominent family, and that I may have styled her for a fashion spread about 20 years ago...all but one of the 6 - 7 women was nice during that photo shoot. I bet this old bat was one of the snobby bitches).

Anyway, when all was said and done at the site of the accident, the old bat - who was still in her car - stated to my niece before driving off: "Well my dear - I hope that I haven't ruined your day."
